As referenced in the article, the 2011 Denali Scout is the first production aircraft to offer the 210 horsepower Lycoming IO-390 as the OEM engine and is a significant upgrade from the standard 180-hp Scout. Larger and more effective control surfaces on the tail and a completely redesigned engine compartment are a few of the other design changes that differentiates the Denali Scout from the original model. But the most noticeable difference is the performance.
The Denali Scout needs only between 350-390 feet of ground roll for takeoff and can land with only 400 feet or less… making it an outstanding STOL and backcountry aircraft. The Denali Scout can reach 155 mph in maximum cruise and flies at a comfortable 138 mph in 75% power cruise and only consuming 12 gph of fuel at that speed. At 55% power cruise, the IO-390 consumes as little as 7.2 gph… making the aircraft a great cross country aircraft as well. The Denali Scout is also equipped with an updated avionics package including the Aspen Avionics Evolution EFD1000 Pilot primary flight display system, a JPI EDM-930 engine monitor, and a panel-mounted Garmin 496 GPS.
The aircraft featured in the article, 2011 Denali Scout s/n 531-2011 – N555AC, is the same aircraft that Cutter Aviation, the American Champion Aircraft dealer for the Southwestern United States, currently has in inventory for sale.
